On April 1, 2011, Midwestern held a "bridging ceremony" for the second year medical students. This was a formal event where the students wore their white coats and were each called up and given a pin to wear on their lapels. This was to recognize them for their achievements over the past two years and to start them off in their clinical rotations (which don't actually start until June but, hey, any reason to celebrate right now is fine with us).
Several of Kyle's good friends received some awards for academic achievements and we say CONGRATULATIONS to them. However, I was a little disappointed that Kyle was not recognized there for being awarded the Caleel Scholarship (he was given $2,500 dollars toward tuition and a nice letter from the dean of the school)...so I'm doing it here...
CONGRATULATIONS KYLE!! YOU ARE AWESOME AND AMAZING AND I LOVE YOU!
Kyle has been working VERY hard all year with his regular school load while preparing for the boards, which he will take in June. He did really well on a mock board exam that the school had him take and this eased the pressure just a little teeny tiny bit. I am so proud of my awesome and amazing husband who is such a great man and wonderful father to his children who look up to him.
Anyway - Logan is soon to be 8 months old and he is doing great too...he is HUGE and has his first tooth! His growth has slowed down slightly as he's become more mobile, but he is still in size 12 month clothing. He loves to wiggle his way around all over the floor and I think his favorite thing to do is chew on his socks. He eats like a champ and I have yet to find any food he won't eat. We found that his favorite food right now is squash mixed with turkey and gravy. For being such a good eater and mellow boy, however, he has yet to sleep for more than about 4 hours at a time...so we're working on that.
Megan is a curious 3-year-old and her imagination has no bounds; she always entertains us with her stories and role-playing. She loves to go to Primary and to read her scriptures every day. She is a wonderful example to her family and friends. She loves going to pre-school and is ALWAYS asking questions!! Meg is always quick with a, "Oh, mommy I like your shoes/shirt/nails/hair/skirt/ etc." and is very much a "girly" girl who likes to dress up. She is mommy's little shadow and big helper around the house. Her chores include unloading the silverware from the dishwasher and helping to put things away and to then "put the soap in" the dishwasher and start the next load. She loves to put puzzles together and to play Memory, CandyLand, and Chutes&Ladders with me while Logan is taking his nap in the morning.
I'm just staying busy trying to keep the house together each day. I've been working on finding really great recipes from Weight Watchers to try and have had some success with that. I've been working on my sewing skills and am proud that I made a dress for Megan. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can get out of the house and get more exercise. I still teach Sunbeams (3-year-olds) at church and I love it...they teach me so much!
So, that's about it for now...I can't believe what a long post this is! Enjoy!
